I don't know if that's correct or not but a patent mill is simply a patent application preparing office that just cranks out patent applications with as little effort as possible and zero concern for the education of the inventor---who is paying. The patent specification begins with not much more than a list of prior art followed by one paragraph about the general "invention" then the obligatory short and long figure descriptions. But nowhere does it tell us what "the invention" really is---the time consuming study of the prior art to discern the differences is left up to us. From the prior art we see the basic idea is quite old--starting with cars at least as early as 1929 (the number for the 1933 patent is incorrect but undoubtedly the PTO intended to reference Mr. Nickerson's improved version of his 1929 invention). So why don't we find such motorcycle adapters on the market? Might snowmobiles and studded tires be competing options? Will motorcycle manufacturers eagerly accept the liability of making their machines adaptable for this technology? Somehow I just don't think so.
