I went through more patents than usual this week, about 30, primarily because the general area of art is so populated with assigned patents most (or all?) of which prevent nuisance lawsuits rather than competition. There were only 2 unassigned patents until I hit this one where I immediately knew I had a winner. Why this version of a corkscrew rather than any other? There is none. Go look at the prior art and particularly the age of the prior art. Certainly this inventor, if he gets it into production, could make a nickel or two but the competition is entrenched and overwhelming.
